About the center
The Jewish Life and Learning Center based in Cascais, Portugal, aims to make Jewish education accessible and relevant with creative and engaging programing. Offering learning opportunities starting with Aleph-Bet and learning for the youngest of children, and special Bar and Bat Mitzvah clubs for older children as well. The goal of our program is to instill in the children, knowledge and pride of their Judaism. Being able to accomplish this in a country that had the Inquisition active for hundreds of years makes the flourishing of Jewish education all the more meaningful.
About the community
Cascais is a coastal town in the greater Lisbon area of Portugal. Drawing from diverse backgrounds, with families from many countries across the globe now calling Cascais home. Rohr Chabad Portugal was founded in 2010 with the aim of reaching every Jew, and with the new state of the art Avner Cohen Casa Chabad, there is a home for all communal learning activities.
It has been a privilege to be selected by the Yael Foundation as a grant recipient. Their interest and commitment to quality Jewish Education has allowed to us advance with programming and projects we never thought possible. Giving us the encouragement and confidence to work harder ensure that no child remains with a Jewish Education.
