About the educational center

The first Jewish educational center in Limassol, Bereshit, was created with the aim of filling the vacuum of Jewish education in a community that has grown rapidly in recent years. Education is the cornerstone of every Jewish community's activities, and it is natural that the Chabad movement took up this challenge and raised the flag of Jewish education in the city. The community opened `First Steps` program for the youngest (1–2 years old) and a kindergarten for 3–5 years old, called to lay the foundations of tradition from an early age along with the didactic development of children at the highest level. The educational institution is accompanied by a professional early development specialist and speech therapist, as well as qualified educators. After lunch, the kindergarten has Hebrew and Tanakh circles. The kindergarten of the Bereshit Center is unique in Limassol. The project provides strictly kosher food, provides a purely Jewish approach and the content, and thus answers the request of parents who want to bring up their children in an atmosphere of traditional values. `First Steps` provides discounts for families in financial difficulties, according to clearly defined criteria.

About the community

The Jewish community of Limassol began to develop only in recent years and is growing steadily. The core of the community is comprised of middle-class Israeli families pursuing professional careers in Cyprus. This core is joined by Jewish families from all over the world and young people working in the field of international trade and high-tech. The common professional sphere is becoming a powerful unifying factor, and this is what defines the unique profile of the community. The Beit-Chabad was established in Limassol 7 years ago with the aim of creating a common Jewish home for all comers, which provides all the traditional and cultural needs for the Jewish way of life: kosher food, education, Shabbat in the community, cultural events and a system of community mutual aid.
