About the school

The educational project is run by Rabbi Meir Kozlovsky and his wife Tzipora Kozlovski, Chabad emissaries in Georgia. They emphasize the significance of the school in shaping the future of Jewish children. The couple acknowledges the issue of assimilation among the young generation in Georgia and views the school as a solution. To ensure a high level of education in both religious and secular subjects, the school strives to hire experienced teachers and top specialists, providing regular training and compensation. English is taught by private language school teachers and informatics is taught by specialists from the Israeli company TechnoHub. The school’s team has translated Jewish books into Georgian. This is a remarkable achievement, as teachers undertake the task of translating the materials each year, creating a comprehensive set of educational programs exclusively for their school. Another remarkable aspect of the school is its fully digital platform for teachers, students and parents. This platform has been in use since 2016 and aligns with the latest global educational trends.

The school and the kindergarten have been operating since 2007. The “Or Avner” is housed in a brand-new building that was opened in September 2019. The land was donated by the Georgian government and the construction of the building was funded by a group of sponsors. The school’s goal is to enroll 135 new students by the 2023 academic year, and they are currently serving 120 students.

On the school grounds, construction is underway on a building intended to house a kindergarten. At present the kindergarten operates in a rented building located a few minutes drive from the school.

The “Or Avner” School offers additional programs on weekends and afternoons, as well as events and camps for children during holidays.

The YAEL Foundation supports the school’s facilities and staff, provides the modernization of teaching methods and the technical equipment of the classrooms.
